Two Search & Rescues In Chelan County Over Weekend, One A Fatality

It was an average winter for search and rescues in Chelan County, Emergency Management Deputy Rich Magnussen told KOHO. But there’s already been a drowning on Lake Chelan and a skier was rescued from the Colchuck area.

Another Climber Rescued From Mt. Stuart, Hiker Drowns In Tuck Lake

A climber was rescued from the southwest face of Mount Stuart yesterday. 34-year-old Michael Getlin of Lake Oswego, Oregon was injured when a loose rock fell on his foot, severely fracturing it.
Just before 9 a.m., Getlin’s wife called 911, saying they were attempting to climb Mount Stuart via the “Alpine Ridge Route” when a large rock came loose and landed on her husband’s foot and he was unable to walk.…

Search & Rescue Responds To Three Chiwawa-Area Snowmobile Crashes On Same Day

With plenty of fresh snow over the New Year’s weekend, snowmobilers were out in the Fish Lake area. Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue responded to three snowmobile accidents.
The first call was for a beginner rider who lost control and ran into a tree, receiving minor injuries. Two calls came in for lost snowmobilers, one group near Alder Creek and the other near the Lake Wenatchee Rec Center on Chiwawa Loop Road.…
