City of Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz talks with KOHO Morning Show host Chris Hansen about recent issues facing the city over higher-than-projected contractor bids for current and future projects. Kuntz also discusses the how the initial stages of budget planning for fiscal year 2021 are shaping up.

    Thanks for the interview Chris,
    The higher than expected bids are also due to inflation of our currency, not just demand on materials.
    COVID not only caused the vendors to get backed up, but the cost of living has now gone WAY up nationwide without anyone even realizing it.
    Any Contractor that understands economics is going to charge 20%-50% more than they did last year for everything just based on inflation. Partially for the last 2 decades of massive inflation that nobody adjusted for at the local level, but mainly because of the massive amount of money printing that is happening right now worldwide.

    The city waiting till next year to pull the trigger is only going to cause the price for the renovation to go up drastically because by that time people at the local level will start seeing and understanding the full affects of hyperinflation.
