Legislation Allowing Parolees The Right To Vote
Today is Election Day, but some eyes are already on future elections. Voting rights could expand to about 21,000 Washingtonians in community custody, with legislation coming to the Statehouse in the upcoming legislative session. Eric Tegethoff has more.
I do not think this new law is needed. When a person commits a crime their voting rights should be taken away until all conditions are met. When will we hold these individuals responsible for their actions? If we continue down this road then all crime will be excused or just overlooked.
The first trait to shown by criminals is early inability is self-control. That means it’s difficult to stop oneself from grabbing & taking others’ possessions or to stay away from something that looks “cool” or “fun” as in doing drugs. The second trait is inability / unwillingness to blame oneself as the cause of ones’ own bad, later criminal behavior. A third trait is ability to con others because they get a lot of practice lying to parents, teachers, police …..
Removing voting rights was not to punish, but to prevent criminals from voting until there’s come test to determine that they no longer blame others for their own behavior, and have somehow, in prison, learned to find facts before acting i.e. have ability to reason, listen to make other than an emotional decisions. Dems obviously think they can’t win elections with enough adult citizens of at least 21 years age, who have not become ineligible to vote, or are currently in the United States of American Illegally.
