Rare October Brushfires Keep Firefighters Busy In Late Autumn

Late October has been a busy week for firefighters in Chelan, Douglas and Grant Counties.
A three-alarm brush fire in Douglas County burned just over 800 acres of grassland on Tuesday, several miles west of Crescent Bar in the vicinity of Trinidad, near the Grant County Border. The Milepost 20 fire burned in brush and grass. No structures were threatened and no one was injured.
On Monday, the Webb Place Fire scorched 15 acres above Rock Island, destroying a barn, killing 40 chickens and prompting Level 1 evacuation notices.
