Wenatchee Valley College held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the future Wells Hall replacement building, but it’s not just all about education.

The $37-million, three-story, 70,000-square-foot building will also house the Chelan County Emergency Operations Center, serving all of North Central Washington.

Demolition of the building starts next month, with construction complete by fall 2021.

Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett joins Dan Langager to talk about how the center became part of WVC’s plan and what it means for responding to emergencies and natural disasters in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant and Kittitas Counties.
