Chelan County Residents ‘Overwhelmingly’ Against Grizzly Bear Repopulation, Commissioner Says
Should grizzly bears come back to the North Cascade Mountains? Should the Federal Fish & Wildlife Service translocate bears themselves? Chelan County Commissioner Kevin Overbay, as well as Commissioners Bob Bugert and Doug England, say No.
Overbay joins Dan Langager on the KOHO Morning Show to talk about the latest on a proposal from the Nation Park Service to reintroduce grizzlies into the North Cascades and the public comments the county has received. Over 100 residents attended meetings in Wenatchee and Chelan and Overbay said an “overwhelming” majority are against the proposal. The public comment period now ends Oct. 24.
Overbay also talks about county strategic planning and sinkhole repairs south of Wenatchee.
