Cascade Schools Have Highest Percentage of ‘Board-Certified’ Teachers in Eastern Wash.
The Cascade School District ranks high in teacher certification, according to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The Board recently honored 81 districts in which at least 20 percent of its teachers have achieved National Board certification. Cascade is the only district in Eastern Washington to reach more than 30 percent, said Tracey Beckendorf-Edou, Cascade Schools Superintendent.
She said 24 teachers currently have the national board certification. The 81 districts honored by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards are located in 10 states. Bellevue is the only district in Washington to each more than 40 percent and Beckendorf-Edou said that’s now the goal for Cascade.
Also included in the 20 percent category were the Wenatchee, Cashmere and Lake Chelan School Districts.
