Throwing Fish Away With The Canal Water – WDFW Asking Irrigators To Help Salmon

When the irrigation season ends and the canals empty, chinook salmon, steelhead, and other fish species can become stranded. And if necessary, a fish rescue will be performed.

Fish screens, like this one in Buttermilk Creek, are designed to protect fish from entering irrigation channels.
