Saddle Rock Closes Today For Arsenic Clean Up, Other Park Projects Underway In Wenatchee

Wenatchee parks are getting some work done and the City hopes to finish by the time the snow flies. From a new skate park, to renovations at Kiwanis Methow and the cemetery, to two projects getting underway this week.
Saddle Rock trails are closing temporarily and major renovations will soon start at Lincoln Park, said Charlotte Mitchell, Capital Project Engineer for Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department at the City of Wenatchee.
The city applied for were successful in receiving grant money for Lincoln Park renovations that will go toward a new play area with a spray park, second picnic shelter, full size soccer field, BMX pump track, a new stage plus other improvements.
Starting today, crews will be removing old mine pilings that contain traces of arsenic at Saddle Rock. The main Saddle Rock trails will remain closed to the public while that clean-up project is taking place, but Dry Gulch and Jacobsen Preserve are open.
