Vanessa Gutierrez, Directing Attorney at Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, joins Dan Langager to talk about DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) created by the Obama Administration. Last week, President Donald Trump announced he is rescinding DACA, but giving Congress six months to address the issue. The White House said it will put out its priorities for the program in the next couple of weeks.
In response to the President’s action, Gutierrez said NWIRP is hosting community forums in both English and Spanish, working to get information out to DACA recipients, their families and other undocumented residents. They’re hosting one today at 6 p.m. at the Wenatchee Community Center on S. Chelan Ave. where attorneys will be available for free consultations and assistance with renewal applications.
