8 a.m. Thursday Update – Spartan, Sutherland Canyon Fires

The good news: Lighter winds today, Spartan Fire Level 2 evacuations have been downgraded to Level 1 and the fire is now 60% contained. The bad news: Level 2s now in place for homes northwest of Quincy in the Monument Hill area as the Sutherland Canyon Fire is now 47,000 acres and growing, with 20% contained.
