Recreational Marijuana: A Grower’s Perspective, Parts 3 and 4

Chelan County recreational marijuana farmers formed the Central Washington Growers Association to educate stakeholders and community members on the impacts of the industry, said Ray Schmitten, co-owner of Zion Botanicals outside of Cashmere. He said the membership-based industry group focuses on providing economic impact data on legalized marijuana or cannabis production and processing.
In this four-part series, Dan Langager talks with Schmitten in the KOHO studios for his perspective on recreational marijuana and its production. If you missed parts one and two, check them out here.
In part three, they discuss social stigmas towards marijuana, it’s illegal federal classification and how Chelan County residents feel about recreational pot.

In part four, they explore the local economic impacts of the burgeoning recreational marijuana industry, from jobs to tax revenue to crop diversification.
