New PUD Substation on Lake Chelan’s North Shore Back to Drawing Board

Chelan County PUD is back to the drawing board after learning a potential substation site on the north shore of Lake Chelan was removed from the list of options. Teka Sellers, Customer Relations Administrator for the PUD, said just one day before presenting two site possibilities to the PUD Board of Commissioners, one owner withdrew and now they need more options.

At this point, Sellers said it’s hard to tell just how big of a bump in the road this will be.

Sellers said they are turning their focus to the community and asking for help in finding a substation site on the north shore.

The PUD is working with the Leavenworth community to find a location for a new substation in there as well.  Sellers said the existing double-bank substation serving that area is nearing capacity.  A new substation is needed to support growth and development in the Upper Valley. The PUD is hosting a community meeting Wednesday November 2 from 6-7 p.m at Leavenworth City Hall.
