Record In-Flows Creating Hazardous Lake, River Conditions

Mountain snowpack throughout the North Cascades faired much better this winter than last. Several surveys showed slightly above-average snow fall and that’s good news for irrigators and hydro-electric generators. But with an exceptionally warm April, that snow is melting off faster than predicted and far more quickly than water uses would prefer. At this point there could be little to no snow left to melt in July to get them through August and September. This early and fast melt is also affecting fish habitats and recreation opportunities in our area, as Dan Langager reports.
