Suicide Threat Leads to Four School Lockdowns

Comment from Wenatchee High School Principal Eric Anderson.
Several local schools were placed on lockdown this afternoon after a man threatening suicide parked his car near Eastmont High School. The man called police shortly before 12:30 p.m. saying he was outside Wenatchee High School, but police located him at about 12:45 near Eastmont Avenue and 5th Street, by the ball diamond behind Eastmont High School.
Police detoured drivers away from Eastmont Ave. and school officials locked down Eastmont High. Sterling and Pioneer Middle Schools and Wenatchee High were also locked down. After a short confrontation, the man was taken into custody by East Wenatcheepolice for mental health evaluation. Officer Dan Reierson said the man was dealing with emotional problems and is now in the care of mental health officials.
Wenatchee High Principal Eric Anderson said they implemented the lockdown to keep students safe and prevent the suspect from entering one of the buildings. Both school districts have said there is no danger to students.
